We understand that Toby was watching Scott closely on those shows and now it appears to have been a wise decision! Toby says he "always gives it his all to make Scott proud and not let anybody down". However Toby and Jessie Evans toured with The Stooges on their 2008 German shows and also opened up for The Stooges concert at L'Olympia in Paris in 2010. Toby hadn't performed with Iggy since 1999, so this re-union marked a 12 year return to service. Now to date Toby has performed a total of 60 concerts with Iggy and The Stooges.
Toby was asked again in 2012 to handle "the war zone" and keep punding those drums for 16 concerts worldwide. Of course Toby had to do it and was onstage with the Stooges for the remainder of their 2011 concerts, ending in December with two nights in San Francisco's Warfield Theatre. In June 2011 Toby was asked to fill in for his buddy Asheton on drums for 17 concerts with Iggy & The Stooges, as Scott had taken ill while on tour. Together they performed 27 concert appearances in 2013 across Australia, USA, Europe, Canada & Korea ! Toby is out there doing his best to show the world what Scott Asheton created: The relentless power machine beat of The Stooges. The Stooges once again invited Toby Dammit back out on the road with them to pound the living daylights out that drumset and make Scott Asheton proud. Toby spent much of 2013 on the road and in the air traveling and performing for another year with Iggy and The Stooges. TOBY DAMMIT DRAFTED INTO PERMANENT SERVICE BY IGGY & THE STOOGES Fortunately things have changed a LOT since both Simeon & Toby left the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains, thanks to a concert promoter there named Ashley Capps, who has jumped on the opportunity to stage this "musical homecoming" right where it belongs: in the BIG EARS FESTIVAL in downtown Knoxville March 27-29. The two had the idea of staging their 1st appearance together right there in Knoxville, Tennessee. Simeon had no hesitations with a big Tennessee HELL YEAH LET'S DO IT! After the concert Toby proposed the question every drummer who as ever heard Danny Taylor's mesmerizing drumming could only dream of asking. The two southern musical wanderers stayed in touch over the years and recently re-encountered each other in Oslo, Norway at another solo SILVER APPLES performance. Simeon has been performing solo with electronics, since original Silver Apples' drummer Danny Taylor passed away in 2005. Toby has not performed in Knoxville since leaving there in 1987 and Simeon himself has NEVER performed there. Over dinner together, they discovered in awe that they are BOTH from Knoxville, Tennessee. Toby met Simeon in London in 2008 while performing on a shared concert bill. Toby joined the legendary Simeon Oliver Coxe III inīIG EARS FESTIVAL in Knoxville, Tennessee on March 29th!
